Belly Dancing

Yes, I am taking belly dancing classes at the Student Recreation Center here on campus. No, I do not wear an outfit like this...yet. I signed up as a spur of the moment decision. I thought it looked really fun and would be a fun activity for me to take my mind off school at the end of the week. I've only had 2 lessons so far, but it is going really well. The most difficult thing is to make your arm movements look fluid and pretty while dancing at the same time. It's a little harder than it sounds. Some of the movements are simple and easy to do, but it can also be awkward because they are not familiar or done on a normal basis. However, even after one class, it feels a little easier after practice. I wear a wrap around my hips which makes the dancing look much better. Hopefully I will be able to get an official belly dancer hip wrap with the coins and everything because it looks and sounds so good with the music and the dancing. I will keep you all updated on how it goes. At the end of the lessons, all the movements we have learned will be put into a choreographed dance to music so I will know how to belly dance to one song! Next is salsa and maybe tap one day!
