One Dub Discussion

Hey girls. I know that we have thrown a lot of information around via email about possible One Dub reunion dates and locations.

So far we have discussed

Cape Cod

Austin

Jackson Hole

Philadelphia

Denver

All great places. All big enough to hold a One Dub Epic Adventure!
The other big problem is determining a date for 2009. August seems to work well but it would be great to get the trip in before football season!! Lets play around with this and see what kind of genius plan we can come up with.

Football Season comes to an END

So this football season has been crazy. Teams have been up and down the Top 25 and the SEC has been all in a Tizzy. Especially with Arkansas knocking LSU out of a chance at the National title! Wow!

The coaching search has been crazy too. Both Ole Miss and Southern fired their coaches. But OLe Miss wasn't without for long, grabbing up Houston Nutt before he had even been on unemployment for 24 hours. Should be interesting to see what he can do with the Rebels. So to my Rebel girls, are you in the Nutt House or are you against it?

Bowl season is coming up which means that the later part of December my TV screen will be filled with more football than a person can watch at one time! I'm so excited!!! Bama will probably get a bowl bid but that might put us back in Shreveport again...who knows!

If there must be an upside to football season being essentially over its that COLLEGE BASKETBALL season has just begun!! Gotta love the Hoops!!!!

NCAA Football Weekend Update

Here are the results from the past weekend 9/22:

#16 Bama took an OT loss to #22 Georgia. It was an intense game and Bama fought hard to come back but just couldn't pull it out (That's what she said)! So the 'ESPN Gameday Curse' continues in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has lost 4 of the last 4 games when ESPN Gameday has been at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This resulted in a virtual switching of positions as Georgia now takes the #15 slot and Bama bumps back to #22. Still its good to be in the Top 25.

Speaking of Top 25...Oklahoma is still pushing the envelope. OK now stands at the #3 spot after their 62-21 victory over Tulsa.

Ole Miss put a tough fight against Florida this weekend. The rebels hosted the National Champions in Oxford on Saturday and came away with ONLY a 30-24 defeat.

The Bulldogs of Starkville played some High School team and won. Whatever.

Florida State, after an off week, will face the Crimson Tide next weekend in the River City Showdown in Jacksonville, FL. (5:00 CBS)

And of course we must mention the Mighty Choctaws. Mississippi College traveled to McMurry where the put a hurtin' to the Methodists 48-14! With 584 rushing yards MC stepping into the record books! The Chocs face Hardin-Simmons next weekend at home and should expect to see a much much much much much stronger opponent!

College Football 9/15/07

So it was an exciting weekend in Tuscaloosa. One of the best come from behind victories for the University of Alabama in recent history happened Saturday night and yours truly was there to witness it! Roll Tide! Alabama defeated #16 Arkansas 41 to 38 in the last seconds of the ball game!! And today Alabama replaced Arkansas and joined the AP polls at #16!!

And to make the day even better Auburn LOST...to MISSISSIPPI STATE!!! Go State! Go State!!

Ole Miss took another loss this weekend. This time from fellow SEC team Vandy.

LSU is still tearing up the turf! I really hate LSU but it would be nice to see another SEC team take top honors!

Oklahoma continues to dominate on the field and in the polls. #4 on both the AP and the USA Today polls!

Also, for you Choctaw fans out there. The might Chocs open their season 2-0 with a big win over Texas Lutheran! They will face big challenges in the weeks ahead as they face #17 Hardin Simmons and #8 Mary Hardin Baylor in the weeks ahead.

Texas Football Fan Nearly Castrated in Bar Fight in Oklahoma Bar

OKLAHOMA CITY — To some Oklahoma football fans, there are things that just aren't done in the heart of Sooner Nation, and one of them is to walk into a bar wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt.

That's exactly what touched off a bloody skirmish that left a Texas-shirt-wearing fan nearly castrated and an Oklahoma fan facing aggravated assault charges that could put him in prison for up to five years.

The shocking case has set off a raging debate in this football-crazed region about the extreme passions behind a bitter rivalry. Some legal observers have even questioned whether this case could ever truly have an impartial jury.

"I've actually heard callers on talk radio say that this guy deserved what he got for wearing a Texas T-shirt into a bar in the middle of Sooner country," said Irven Box, an attorney in this city 20 miles from Oklahoma's campus in Norman.

According to police, 32-year-old Texas fan Brian Christopher Thomas walked into Henry Hudson's Pub on June 17 wearing a Longhorns T-shirt and quickly became the focus of football "trash talk" from another regular, 53-year-old Oklahoma fan Allen Michael Beckett.
Thomas told police that when he decided to leave and went to the bar to pay his tab, Beckett grabbed him in the crotch, pulled him to the ground and wouldn't let go, even as bar patrons tried to break it up. When the two men were separated, Thomas looked down and realized the extent of his injuries.

"He could see both of his testicles hanging on the outside of his body," said Thomas' attorney, Carl Hughes. "He was wearing a pair of white shorts, which made it that much worse."

It took more than 60 stitches to close the wound, and police interviewed Thomas at a nearby hospital emergency room.

College Football

Alabama beats Vanderbilt in Nashville to open up the SEC season with a bang. Roll Tide!


Ole Miss couldn't quite pull it out, but they had a great day of offense (their best in 4 years) BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed for 226 yards alone. How can you not like a guy with a name like that?


Oklahoma is tearin' it up. They dominated the field this weekend against the Miami Hurricanes and put themselves at #3 in the AP polls!!


The Choctaws were off this week but next weekend they open up ASC play with Texas Lutheran. Should be a good test of what we are working with this year!


Oh and FSU got beat by Clemson in the Bowden Bowl. If anyone cares.

And State beat Tulane. Go State! Go State! (Come on you gotta be excited when State beats anybody...except Alabama that is!)

But to make this weekend truly spectacular...AUBRUN LOST!!!!!

At FLORIDA: it takes four, one to screw in the bulb and three to figure out how to get stoned off the old one.


At ALABAMA: it takes three, one to change it and two to reminisce about how The Bear would have done it.


At LSU: it takes seven, and each one gets credit for five semester hours.


At OLE MISS : it takes four, one to change it and three to find the perfect J. Crew outfit for the occasion.


At KENTUCKY: it takes eight, one to screw it in and seven to discuss how much brighter it seems to shine during basketball season.


At TENNESSEE: it takes ten, two to figure out how to screw it in, two to buy an orange lampshade, and six to phone a radio call-in show and talk about how much they hate Alabama.


At MISSISSIPPI STATE: it takes fifteen, one to screw in the bulb, two to buy the Skoal, and twelve to yell, "GO TO HELL, OLE MISS".


At SOUTH CAROLINA: it takes 80,000, one to screw it in and 79,999 to discuss how this will finally be the year that they have a decent football team.


At AUBURN: it takes one hundred, one to change it, forty-nine to talk about how they wish they had a national championship and fifty to roll Toomer's Corner when bulb installation is complete.

At ARKANSAS: None. There is no electricity in Arkansas.
